The IGLUNA Field Campaign marks the conclusion of the IGLUNA student projects after designing and developing their prototypes during one academic year. The objectives of the campaign are to bring together the student projects, test them in an extreme environment, and present them to the other student teams, external experts and the general public.

Taking into account the sanitary conditions around the world at the moment, we have decided to run a hybrid version this year, i.e. as planned at the Verkehrshaus – Swiss Museum of Transports and on the Pilatus in Lucerne, as well as online.
The teams who are able and willing to travel to Lucerne to demonstrate and test their project are welcome. The museums and open public places are currently open in Switzerland. On the other hand, the ones staying in their country of origin will have to test and run their experiments from home, from their university or any other suited location.

Furthermore, each team will have a dedicated live project show broadcasted on Space Innovation’s YouTube channel to present their project to the public throughout the world for about 45 minutes. Two projects shows a day will be broadcasted, from the 17 until the 23 July.

Please be aware that this programme is a preliminary version and will be updated regularly.

Arrival by train

You can find the timetable on the SBB website. In order to buy tickets, you can either do it online or directly at the train station (counter or automatic machine). There are sometimes reduced price tickets, go and check in advance on the website !

Compare the price with the one-way ticket from your arrival location to Lucerne: it is sometimes worth looking at the Saver Day passes.

Please be aware that there are no student tickets.

Public transports in Lucerne

The city of Lucerne and the Lake Lucerne Region offer a free visitors card for guests who stay overnight. They are provided by the hostel/accommodation you’re staying at. They are also available at the tourist information offices.

Otherwise, pricing for public transport in Lucerne and the greater Lucerne area (called ‘Passpartout’) is based on time and space (socalled zones). You can buy tickets at the vending machine directly at the bus station or on the SBB mobile phone app.

We recommend you to stay at the Swiss Youth Hostel where IGLUNA participants get a special discount. Additional students that are not covered by Space Innovation should book their room by themselves.
