An Introduction to Bartolomeo Program – in-orbit opportunity on ISS

This informative event introduces Bartolomeo services and its capabilities to the Swiss Space community. In the first part of the event, the participants will learn what Bartolomeo is and how it can help them, by bringing instruments and payloads to the International Space Station quickly and at a reasonable cost.

In the second part of the event, the participants will have the opportunity to join bilateral meetings with Airbus representatives. At the end there will be time for networking.

Please be aware that pre-registration is required for organizational purposes.

Background – What is Bartolomeo ?

On the international Space Station (ISS) scientific experiments are run every day to support science and applications on Earth for our daily life. However, accessing the ISS is still very expensive and complicated for small companies. For this reason, the Airbus Defense and Space ideated the Bartolomeo program.

The platform is attached to the European Columbus Module on the ISS, representing a new and unique payload hosting opportunity: Operated aboard the ISS in low-Earth-orbit (altitude: ~400 km), the Bartolomeo platform offers the ISS’ only unobstructed view on both, planet Earth and outer space. Through Bartolomeo, Airbus offers an All-in-One mission service, which comprises all required mission elements into one commercial contract: Mission preparation, payload launch, payload on-orbit installation, commissioning, operation, payload data processing and delivery.
