P06 – HYDRATION II
Water production from ice

about.
Our goal is to produce distilled water from Mars’ subsurface ice sheets covered by a shallow overburden layer by using radiative heating. We will also reconstruct a ‘digital core’ characterizing the overburden layers. Following technologies are used to conduct HYDRATION II : remote control, telemetry, rotary drilling, radiative heating, neural network and peristaltic pumping. The advantage in an extreme environment is the In-situ Resource Utilization and life support contribution. Potential Earth Applications would be to provide water to scientific outposts in Antarctica, Arctic Ocean.
HYDRATION II stands for “High Yield Dihydrogen-monoxide Retrieval And Terrain Identification On New worlds II”.
